Enrico (Henry) Angelo Ludovico Negretti, was born in Italy in 1818 and died in London in 1879; he attended the London Mechanics Institute in 1834-35.

From 1834 on had several locations in London (19 Leather Lane, Holborn, 20 Greenville St., 9 Hatton Garden, 9 Manchester St., Argyle Square).

A named Gaetano Negretti, dealer of barometers, in 1848 was working in Liverpool and Manchester.

Henry teamed with Jane Pizzi and then with Henry Joseph Zambra (1822-1897), son of Joseph Caesar, born in 1796 in Careno, Como (Italy), both manufacturers of barometers.

Together with the latter he founded the Negretti & Zambra Ltd., with various offices in London (Hatton Garden, 59 & 68 Cornhill; Holberon Hill 107, 122 Regent St., 153 Fleet St., Holborn Circus, Holborn Viaduct, 2 Charter House St .)
